Possible Scenarios and early morning deal

I took Greg back to the airport between 5:00-6:00 this morning. On my way back home I ran into CVS to pick up a couple of Sunday newspapers but they had not been delivered yet. While there I made a quick run through the store just to see if I needed anything and this is what I walked out with -

Here's the breakdown...
(2) Chex Mix @ 1.00
(2) Swiffer Sweeper Refills @ 5.99
(1) Raisin Bran cereal @ 1.88

Total before coupons = $15.86
used these coupons:
****-$5.00/$15.00 purchase
-$1.00 for Chex Mix
-$1.00 for Swiffer refills
-$3.00 ECBs

New Total = 4.86 + tax .30 = $5.16 paid cash and earned $5.00 back for Swiffer deal. Whooohoooo, not bad for a quick run through (i.e. - unplanned) trip!

****FYI: The link I gave you for the $5.00/$15.00 coupon above is actually a link to get a coupon for $3.00/$15.00 because the other coupon that I used this morning expires June 1 (today) - this other coupon doesn't expire until June 6th!

Here's a $4.00/$20.00 purchase coupon that expires 6/8/08 - you can use this for this week's shopping anyway. Hopefully there will be a new coupon come out by then! Don't forget to go to cvs.com and sign up for email alerts and you will get a welcome email with your own coupon you can print over and over again as many times as you want.

Another FYI - most CVS stores have a price scanner machine somewhere in the store - if you scan your customer reward card you will get some great coupons you can use. I did it this morning and got a $3.00 / $10.00 any CVS purchase coupon

Now....on to the possible scenarios (in case you need help with some ideas):
If you are just starting out with no ECB in your stash then you could do something like this...
1st Purchase
Let's say you scanned your card in the price scan machine and got a $3.00/$10.00 coupon
Pick up CVS Bandaids 2 @ 1.99
CVS Cotton swabs 2 @ 3.19
Total = $10.36
- $3.00 coupon you just got
final cost = $7.36
You'll receive $7.98 back in ECB!

2nd Purchase (do multiple purchases - don't ring everything up together)
Oral B Cross Action Toothbrush 2pk - 6.99
Listerine Smart Rinse - 3.49
Duracell batteries - 2.99
2 Dawn dishwashing liquids - 2.00

Total before coupons $15.47
Use these coupons:
-$3.00 off $15.00
-1.00 for Listerine
-.25 for Dawn (2 if you have them)
-7.98 ECB's from purchase #1
You will pay $2.99 out of pocket but you will get $11.48 back in ECB

3rd purchase:
Charmin toilet paper 2 @ 4.99 = 9.98
Bounty paper towels 5.99
Total before coupons $15.97
Use these coupons:
-$3.00 of $15.00
-.50 (2 coupons for Charmin)
-.25 Bounty
-11.48 ECB from purchase #2
You will pay .74 out of pocket but you will get back $10.00 in ECB

This should give you an idea of how this works. For a total of $11.09 cash spent you just received:
(2) 9 pk Charmin large rolls toilet paper
(1) 8 pk Bounty paper towels
(2) Dawn dishwashing liquids
(1) pk Duracell batteries
(1) Listerine Smart Rinse
(1) Oral B CrossAction Toothbrush 2pk
(2) 500ct CVS Qtips
(2) 40 pk bandaids

and you still have $10.00 ECB left to spend so you basically just got all of that for $1.09!!!

(If you are like me and don't need the Listerine Smart Rinse...perhaps you know somebody you could gift it to? Might be a single momma out there who could use it and appreciate it!)

Let me know how you do this week....
