Retail Therapy

My mother-in-law has graciously let me use her car the last couple of weeks while we've been house-hunting and taking care of all the details involved with that. Greg and I arranged to meet at their house last night after he got off work so we could drop her car back off and I could ride home with him. Since it was just he and I (Dakota was at camp) and I had a completely stressful day, we went out to eat dinner to discuss the day and unwind.
Let me just say --- I love my husband! There is nothing better than just sitting and talking to my best friend at the end of a rough day!

After dinner we stopped by JCPenneys on the way home because my stepson was working and he had purchased some Dockers slippers for Greg and we were going to pick them up....(they were on sale for .96 by the way.) While we were there I managed to snag a few items for Dakota. My growing boy needs clothes!! Dakota is into Adult Medium shirts now which gives us a lot more variety to choose from AND greater sales - I was able to pick up these 4 shirts for about $5.00 a piece after my son's employee discount.
This morning we had our home inspection. Greg and I both attended for awhile and walked through the house making plans of where to put what while the guy doing the inspection did his work. Occasionally he would call us over to point out something or show us how to make inexpensive adjustments to something. Greg had to leave to get back to the office after about an hour so I decided to leave too. I ran by Walgreen's on my way home...ya gotta know me by now - I'm out and by myself! I'm gonna hit ONE of the stores!! LOL
I got all of this for $5.96 and I'll be getting a rebate from the August Easy Saver for the Pert Plus in the amount of $3.79 - not bad if I do say so myself!

A Day in Pictures

Thursday, the last day of July 2008...five more months until 2009...can you believe how quickly this year is flying by?

What did you today? I thought I would share my day with you (in pictures because you know how I love taking pictures!)

For the last couple of weeks, I have been packing every morning for an hour or two so I am not trying to get all of our stuff packed at once when we get ready to move. Last week Dakota and I took down his beds in his room so I could use his room as a place to store all the boxes I pack. This is his room - notice the FLORIDA GATORS-colored walls. He & his daddy are Gator fanatics...I root for Seminoles myself! He doesn't ever sleep in there anyway - preferring to sleep on the couch or whoever else's bedroom he can crash.
Greg called me around 9:30 and asked if I wanted to meet for lunch. This was a surprise! We never get to meet for lunch because we are still down to one vehicle since mine went kapoot awhile back. My mother-in-law has let us use her vehicle all week though so I could go house-hunting and take care of the things involved with that. Anyway, when Greg called to invite me to lunch I was very pleased and we agreed to meet at 11:30 for sushi.
I got a Bento Box for lunch which had so much food I didn't even touch my sushi and ended up bringing the whole two rolls home with me!! I can't believe one person could eat all that food! Greg's sushi is the green stuff jammed in my box - he had an AJ roll - and sampled some of my chicken tempura, egg drop soup, shrimp, and egg rolls I had.

I was on the same side of town as Lifeway so after I finished lunch, I ran by there to pick up my Third Day CD I had pre-ordered about a month ago. I had that $5.00 gift card I got for pre-ordering the CD that was burning a hole in my wallet because they had some great stuff on a clearance table but my sushi was in the car and I still had to stop by Walgreen's so I passed on the clearance table.Next stop was Walgreen's...but you knew that didn't ya? I pretty much got everything I told you about here in this post but I added a few things extra and spent a total of $20.21 for everything you see here...I am very pleased!
This little Children's Activity Book is one of the extras I picked up. I was in the pharmacy area and happened to see it and thought it would make a neat little gift for one of my grandkids. It was only .99 - but when I opened it up...
there are a whole bunch of great coupons inside! Ummm, yeah I'll be taking this sheet of coupons out before passing the book on to one of the kids.

I got a sample of Dove Shampoo & Conditioner (grapefruit and lemongrass scent...hmmmm, bet that smells just divine!) Along with that are two great coupons. I just checked and you can still request this sample - click on the link!

This next one was completely unexpected - a gift card/coupon for Office Max for $10.00 off my next purchase of $20.00 or more. WOW - that's great!

Greg's sports magazines - yuck! The only thing I like about those is that I ordered his Sports Illustrated through Ebates for a good price and Ebates is going to be cutting me a BIG FAT CHECK on August 15th for my purchases from the last three months.

His other magazine - ESPN - he gets by using SKYMILES that were going to expire which makes this subscription FREE!

Last but not least...my Voice of the Martyrs newsletter. This month the newsletter is all about "China's Illegal Christians" - due to the fact that the Olympics are about to begin in China. I am sure the media attention will portray the Chinese people as intellectual, polished, non-persecuted people - free to serve whatever God they choose. This is NOT the case! Let's remember to pray for the religious freedom of the Chinese people...that they will be able to one day openly worship and serve Jesus Christ as we are able to in the United States.

That's where I went yesterday - and I couldn't be more pleased with my purchases!! I spent a couple hours yesterday morning going through the ads and matching coupons with the ads and looking up internet printable coupons but after all was said and done it was so worth it!

I started off at Winn-Dixie where they had a Buy One Get One Free sale AND a $5.00 off $40 purchase coupon in their weekly sales ad (can pick these up at the front of the store.)

I was in a hurry that night and didn't catch it until I got home and was perusing my receipt trying to figure out why my totals were so much.

Went with my mom to a doctor's appt yesterday and on the way home we stopped by CVS and Walgreen's. At CVS I spent $12.00 cash and this is what I got:

Had $10 ECB left over after all of this - last night Greg and I went up to the hospital to visit my friend and on the way home we stopped by a 24-hr CVS that is near the hospital because Greg has been looking for this particular cologne he wants (which is much cheaper at CVS!) While there I spent another $6.53 out of pocket for this:
3 Orapiks
2 packs of Eclipse gum
(1) 4-pk ravioli
(1) large Listerine mouthwash
and then we purchased
Greg's Dolce & Gabbana cologne - priced at $55.00 - but we paid $42.00 for it after ECB's!

Tried Walgreen's Today - Prefer CVS

I know that Walgreen's has some GREAT deals this week BUT they also have too many rules and stipulations to their Register Rewards program! Ugh...I just can't keep it all straight!

I spent a lot of time last night and this morning trying to put together my coupons and deals before I went to the store so I could just walk in and pick up what I wanted, check out and leave. I actually planned to do 5 purchases but the store was a little busy and I started second-guessing myself so I stopped gathering up my products at purchase #3 - good thing!
Here's what happened:
I took in my gift card with $18.70 on it from my April rebate (which I got back super fast since I can now do it online - I STILL HAVEN'T received my March rebate yet although it says it was mailed last week!?! Grrrrr!!) I only planned on spending my gift card and rolling any Register Rewards I received.

First purchase came up to $30.62 and after taking off all coupons I had to deduct $11.20 from my gift card. I received $20 RR (2 - $10 RR) back for the P&G and $3 RR for Zantac.

Second purchase came up to $15.74 and after deducting coupons and using $10 RR, I had to deduct $2.24 from my gift card.

Third purchase is where I ran into trouble. I now have a $10.00 RR and a $3.00 RR to use and only $5.26 balance left on my gift card.
My purchase came up to $14.99 and after deducting coupons I was at $9.99 - I tried to use my $10 RR but I couldn't because one of my items was the Venus razor which is a P&G product and the $10 RR came from P&G products so I couldn't use one to pay for the other (hmmm, go figure?) Okay, so I used my $3.00 RR which brought me down to $7.74 - deduct my gift card balance of $5.26 and I owe $2.48...the only problem is I didn't bring any money with me! My son remembers the change can out in the car so he runs out to get that and I count out $2.48 in dimes and nickels. After that, out pops my other RR for $6.00!!

Oh terrific!! Now I have $16.00 RR to go spend - let's see if I can figure out all the little details so I don't screw this one up. LOL - I enjoy CVS so much better - it is wayyyyy easier than this!!

All in all, I spent $20 and got all of that which I am very happy with AND I have $16 RR to go spend on some more stuff.
