Locks of Love

I decided 2 years ago to grow my hair out and donate it to Locks of Love. This organization takes donated hair and makes wigs for children who suffer from hair loss. Hair has to be at least 10" long to be donated. My hair was finally long enough! I decided to get it cut after I returned home from the Marriage Retreat in Gatlinburg.

My "before" picture

My friend, Mardi, took me and captured the moment in pictures...lol.
Even though I was growing my hair out FOR this purpose and I was totally ready to get rid of my long THICK hair, it was still hard to feel my "security blanket" being cut away like that.

All gone now...

Hopefully this ponytail can be used for a sweet child....

Much lighter and freer now - and I am going to start over again. :-)

I love your new 'do! My hair is very long as well. Where did you get it cut-and how do you donate it to Locks of love? My hair is sorta my security blanket too..but I could cut it for a good cause =)

Hey Claire! Yeah remember when I colored my hair real light last year and I was talking about growing it out to donate it and you said I probably wouldn't be able to because I had colored it and I told you I had already looked into it and I could....you just don't remember us talking about it. :-) Thanks for the compliment on my new cut!

Ashleigh - when my daughter did this a few years ago we went to Mastercuts and they will do your hairstyle for free since you are donating it. I went there yesterday but after waiting for over an hour I got tired of waiting so I just went to Cuts By Us and paid $12.95 for a cut. If you click on the link in my post, it will take you to the Locks of Love website for details.
