I've Been PhotoFiddled! And YOU Can too! Giveaway

See this picture?? This is my son, Dakota and our newest puppy, Raven - the day before Thanksgiving we were raking leaves in our back yard....trying to rake leaves but puppy wasn't being very cooperative. As soon as we would get a pile of leaves she would come running and dive bomb them and scatter the pile everywhere.

Anyway the amazing artists at PhotoFiddle played with this picture (fiddled around with it) and sent me a wonderful piece of art for our living room.
I had planned on making the choice on my own and giving it to my husband for Christmas but there were way too many choices! It was too hard - they were all so good! I had to show him and get his opinion.

This is the stretched canvas artwork we chose and it's now proudly displayed on our living room wall!
Photofiddle would like to offer you, my readers a $50.00 gift certificate to have one of your pictures photofiddled! What I would like for you to do is go visit Photofiddle, see what they have to offer (it's in the section titled "Click to view Photofiddle Gallery") and come back here and leave me a comment as to which type of "fiddling" is your favorite.

This is open to anyone (non-bloggers included - you just need to leave me an email address so I have a way to reach you.) I will leave this open until Tuesday at midnight. I will pick a number on Wednesday morning and announce the winner at that time.

Sixth Photo Tag

Rebekah at Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe got tagged for this game and instead of tagging anybody she opened it up to anyone who wanted to participate. It's called Sixth Photo Tag and the idea is for you to go into where your photos are and open your 6th photo folder and grab your 6th photo and post it on your blog.

As you can tell, mine is not really a "pretty" picture but it means a lot to me. This was from mid-November when my best friend had her 2-yr-old son, Caleb's birthday party. The week before she had just had her last chemo treatment and we are praying her cancer is gone. She just turned 43 in September and adopted her baby 2 years ago....the pretty baby girl in striped shirt is my 2-yr old granddaughter (and I am 2 years younger than CJ!)

We already have Caleb and Bailee married when they are old enough! LOL

If you want to participate just go into your 6th photo folder, choose your 6th picture and blog about it. Come back and let me know you did it so I can see your picture!

SmugMug

This is a neat online storage site. You can try it free for 14 days, but there is an annual fee after that. I have had my photos in a couple of different online storage places over the last few years. A couple of them have closed (and I've had to transfer those pictures elsewhere!) and a couple of sites I uploaded pictures too just to take advantage of free photo developing - then when I didn't use the service for a certain amount of time I received an email that they were going to delete my pictures. Grrrrrr....had to move those pictures too!

Great things SmugMug offers that free sites don't:

  • No ads or promotions surrounding your photos.
  • Unlimited storage and traffic.
  • Ability to retrieve your photos anytime.
  • No requirement for your visitors to register.
  • No threat of losing your photos if you don't buy prints.
  • No reducing resolution of your photos like at free sites.
  • No "free for a few photos, expensive for more" plans like Picasaweb's.
  • Ability to view big, clear photos.
  • Gorgeous themes to personalize your galleries.
  • Full-screen slideshows.
  • Real, knowledgeable & friendly humans to answer your emails quickly.
  • More safety for your photos. Pay sites rarely close; many free sites—even from Yahoo, HP, Canon and Microsoft—have closed.

Christmas in FL

December 9, 2007
Pensacola Beach, FL
Temp was in the high 70's
Sun kept going in and out of clouds and it was a windy day but I would rather be here than anywhere on a day like this in December! We took these pictures at the beach today.

Butterflies & Seagulls

We love going to the beach here where we live. We went one Saturday back in September and when we got there we were so excited because the surf was pretty flat in the Gulf and the the water was that beautiful clear blue-green color. We carried our chairs and cooler down to the edge of the water and got comfortable and all the seagulls showed up waiting for THEIR lunch! haha
It just gave me a chance to snap some up-close pictures of them while they waited for us to throw them some leftovers.

The seagulls almost blend in with our sugar-white sand beaches we have here in FL. I have always loved our sand! You can't find sand like this anywhere else in the world!
Today Dakota and I went to a kids' park to meet up with some other homeschooling moms/kids for a play date. We had never been to this particular park before. There was a huge wonderful butterfly garden planted at the entrance of the park and hundreds of butterflies were flittering all over the place! They were fascinating to sit there and watch. Dakota helped me capture several good pictures of them by pointing out some that were landing on flowers long enough for me to snap a picture.
